CONFESSING CONGREGATIONS
LAY PREACHERS
LAY PREACHERS
Candidates for ministry of Lay Preacher will be asked to:
-
register with Confessing Congregations of the Uniting Church in Australia Inc. (CCUCA)
-
register with Kingsley College

CCUCA Lay Preachers require a minimum of 6 subjects of the 10742NAT Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology* at Kingsley College.
They need to complete the following units:

-
Introduction to the Old Testament
-
Introduction to the New Testament
-
Basic Christian Beliefs
-
Introduction to Preaching
-
Worship
-
Wesleyan Leadership and the Basis of Union **
​​
Those finishing the above units may like to continue on to complete
the 10742NAT Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology*
and then the Diploma and Advanced Diploma.*
​
Candidates may be eligible to receive credit for existing qualifications.

Confessing Congregations Lay Preachers Course

Candidates for Confessing Congregations Lay Preachers Course will
-
be an active member of a local worshipping community
-
receive ongoing supervision from a Confessing Congregation's mentor
-
become familiar with the Basis of Union and prepare to lead study of the Basis in terms of biblical sources and practical application at the local level
CCUCA Lay Preachers in active ministry will be asked to:
-
accept the spiritual oversight and discipline of a presbytery (or network) approved by the CCUCA
-
attend sessions on the Uniting Church Code of Ethics for Lay Preachers and Safe Church Practices (or equivalent as may be negotiated with the CCUCA)
-
engage in continuing education
Job Description of an CCUCA mentor
Mentors of candidates for the ministry of CCUCA Lay Preacher will be asked to:
-
register and liaise with Confessing Congregations
-
be an active member of a local worshipping community
-
accept the spiritual oversight and discipline of a presbytery (or network) approved by the CCUCA.

assist the candidate to become familiar with, and prepare to lead study of, the Basis of Union
-
act as a sounding board in the training and formation process
-
advise and, where appropriate, accompany the candidate in areas of contact with the wider Uniting Church
